Gerber Shuts Down Cetronia

June 20th @ Limeport
Limeport 2, Cetronia 0
Limeport climbs to 10 - 7

Ryan Gerber shut out Cetronia and got the complete game win. At least two scouts came to see Gerber throw and he was clocked from 89 - 92 mph the entire game. One radar gun had him hitting 92 mph in the 7th inning. Jeff Cavanaugh hit another homerun...more details to follow.

West Chester standout Blair Dameron doubled off the right field wall in his first at bat as a Limeport Bull.

Bulls Lose to Coplay Again...

June 19th @ Coplay
Coplay 4, Limeport 2
Limeport is now 9-7

In a well-played game, Limeport came up on the losing end vs. Coplay again. Starting pitcher Billy Hezel and reliever Brett Vroman pitched well, but the offense managed only 2 runs off Coplay's Caleb Calarco (9 K's).

Kevin Kershner was 2-3 and Liam O'Connor had and rbi and scored a run. Luke Pile and Matt Geiger each had a double. Kershner now has 614 career hits.

Coplay is in 1st place and now has a record of 14-1-1.

Bulls Make a Few Changes as Roster Deadline Approaches

The Bulls have made a few roster changes. The new faces are:

Brendan O'Connor - Catcher (East Stoudsburg University)

Brendan is a familar face to many Bulls, especially his brother Liam (Bulls shortstop). Brendan also is on the Lehigh Valley Clippers roster in the BML.

Blair Dameron - 3B/1B (West Chester University - Pennridge High School)

Blair was West Chester's cleanup hitter earning all-league honors his freshman year.

2006: Named to the PSAC East first team, while hitting .358 with 10 doubles, 29 RBI and a .455 on-base percentage ... third on the team in batting ... produced a .489 slugging percentage ... started 44 of 46 contests his first year.

Steve Nikorak - P/SS (Stroudsburg High School - Lehigh University recruit)

Paul Smith - P (Pleasant Valley)

Smith hadn't allowed an earned run durng his entire high school senior season before the district semi-finals vs. Parkland. Strong arm will be shared with his legion team this summer - The Birches.

94 MPH fastballs show up at Limeport

June 17th - Limeport Stadium

Limeport 3, Gabelsville 2

Limeport now 9-6

Kenny Buttenfield pitched for the Bulls tonight, who knows where tomorrow. Buttenfield threw 5 dominant innings (featuring almost every pitch above 90 MPH) and Jeff Krauss closed the game for yet another save.

Buttenfield pitched Limeport to victory and may have pitched himself back into professional baseball. More than 10 major league scouts came to see Kenny pitch and he did not disappoint (5 innings, 3 hits, 7 K's, 0 BB). To give Buttenfield justice, please see the Webarticle.

As for the rest of the Bulls, Pat Lane and Luke Pile led the offense each going 2-3. Matt Geiger, Kenny Serfass, Brenden O'Connor, and Kevin Kershner each added a hit. Kershner and O'Connor, and Jeff Kroboth each scored a run.

Worst Game of the Year

June 13th @ ICC
ICC 6, Limeport 0
Limeport falls to 8-6

In perhaps the worst showing of the year, Limeport allowed a .500 team to dominate them. ICC has been playing fair, but they had no business finishing off the Bulls.

The game was close (1-0 ICC) until the bottom of the 6th inning. ICC then exploded for 5 runs. It did not help that the home plate umpire (Redding) decided to shrink the strike zone in a 10-pitch at bat by Cody Ruff. Scott Stewart was pitching a strong game up to this point. Not one, but two pitches on the outside corner were both called balls, and Ruff (to his credit) eventually slapped a double down the line to start the inning.

Even had Stewart struck out Ruff, the offense today was dead for Limeport. Pat Hollander was the only Bulls to have more than one hit (2-2 - BB).

ICC pitcher R. Williams pitched a strong game (4 K's and 1 BB). ICC's offense was led by Erik Ruff (2-3, double, 2 runs), Jimmy Young (2-3 - rbi - run) and Von Kiel (triple - 2 rbi - 1 run)

Bulls Give Away a Victory

June 12th @ Fleetwings

Fleetwings 3, Limeport 2

Limeport falls to 8-5

Victory seemed withing reach until a sloppy 6th washed it away. A rainy day ended in another close loss for the Bulls. Limeport started Ryan Gerber pitched well (5.7 innings, 4 hits, 2 earned runs, 9 strikouts, 6 walks) but wound up losing another close game. Gerber has been outstanding this year, but yet again is a hard-luck loser. He deserved a better fate but a sloppy 6th inning (errors, passed balls, wild pitches) allowed the Fleetwings to steal a victory.

Luke Pile's bat continues to produce (2-3, BB) and Kevin Kershner and Jeff Kroboth each had an rbi. Liam O'Connor (1-2 - 2 BB), Pat Lane (1-2 - BB), and Matt Geiger (1-3 - run - BB) each had a good day at the plate.

Brett Vroman finished off the 6th inning for the Bulls.

Toner Makes '07 Debut; Cav Hits Homer

June 11th @ Jordan Creek

Limeport 9, Jordan Creek 5

Bulls now 8-4

Pat Toner has been nursing a sore arm, but all seemed well today. Toner pitched 3 strong innings and Ryan Adkinson (W) and Jeff Krauss finished the Gators off in a 5 inning contest.

What was perhaps the longest 5 inning game in the history of the Tri-County League ended up in a victory for the Bulls.

Luke Pile is seeing the ball well recently (2-3, rbi, 2 runs). Jeff Kroboth had a hit and scored 2 runs. Pat Lane, Liam O'Connor and Jeremy Hass (Southern Lehigh) each scored a run. The big blow came from Jeff Cavanaugh's bat with a towering 3-run homer in the 5th.

Stewart Shuts Down Pennridge; Strikes out 400th

June 6 at Limeport Stadium

Limeport 2, Pennridge 0

Bulls now 7-4

Scott Stewart's first strikout of the game was his 400th of his career. Stewart ended up striking out 14 batters while walking just one. Scott had a no-hitter going into the 7th inning (wound up with 2-hitter).

Brenden McGaheran was 2-3 with a double and run scored. Liam O'Connor and Pat Hollander each added an rbi while Pat Lane scored a run.

Limeport seems to be quickly becoming Pennridge's rival as the manager and a player were ejected in the second inning. There were many heated words exchanged during and after the game between teams. Cooler heads prevailed (after a Pennrige player did his best impression of a UFC fighter in challenging fans, players, and etc.) and both teams went home without incident.

Back on the winning track

Limeport's bats woke up and earned a victory against Cetronia. The Bulls climb back over the .500 mark.

Ryan Adkinson pitched 4.7 innings (5 hits, 2 earned runs, 7 K's). Brett Vroman finished the 5th inning to pick up his first victory of the season and Jeff Krauss pitched the final two innings to earn his 2nd save.

Nolan Neiman (2-3, 1 run) and Matt Geiger (2-4, double, 1 run, and 2 rbi) paced the offense. Luke Pile and Kenny Serfass each added a hit and rbi.

Four game slide - first time in 3 years.

Coplay handed Limeport its 4th straight loss for the first time since 2004. The 2004 Bulls lost to Jordan Creek, Tri-City, ICC, and Gabelsville. The 2007 Bulls have now lost to Fleetwings (Tri-City), ICC, Gabelsville, and Coplay.

Ryan Gerber (West Chester) was pitching in his first start of the 2007 season. Gerber gave up 7 hits and 3 earned runs.

Dan Fassl pitched well for Coplay to earn the victory (8 K's, 5 hits, and 2 earned runs).

The Bulls offense has really been struggling lately. They managed on 5 hits. Joe Pochron had 2 hits, 1 rbi, and 1 run scored. Kenny Serfass, Pat Lane, and Liam O'Connor each had one hit.

Steak reaches 3

The Bulls have now lost three games in a row. The always tough trip down to Gabelsville resulted in another loss. Ryan Walter pitched well but was outdueled by Justin Konnick.

Liam O'Connor and Matt Geiger each had 2 hits and Joe Pochron had one hit. Brett Vroman pitched one inning of no-hit relief.

Limeport has now been shut out twice this season.

Bulls lose 2nd straight

Limeport lost its second game in sloppy fashion. The game 'featured' 16 walks. Starting pitcher Billy Hezel pitched 5 innings of three hit ball. He struck out 7 but walked 6 batters. Relief pitcher Brett Vroman pitched two strong innings while striking out 3.

The offense was led by Kenny Serfass (1-2 w/ 2 rbi) and Pat Hollander (1-2, double, rbi, and 2 BB).

For ICC - Erik Ruff was 2-4 (double) with 3 RBI.

Bulls suffer 1st loss of season

The Bulls lost 2-0 to the Fleetwings. While the offense was stagnent, Limeport pitcher Scott Stewart (York College) pitched well. He pitched 7 innings, struck out 8 and only gave up 1 earned run. Stewart did not walk a batter.

Luke Pile, Pat Hollander, and Matt Geiger each had one hit.

The Fleetwings winning pitcher Scott Bolasky struck out 9 and walked just one (Pile). Scott Garger (2-3) scored the games only two runs.

Liam O'Connor (Lehigh University) joins Bulls

Liam earned 1st Team - All Patriot League in 2007 as a junior. He was twice the Patriot League Player of the Week during the month of April. O'Connor hit .342 with 11 doubles, 23 RBI, and 35 runs scored for Lehigh in 2007.

Krauss picks up Win in relief

Starting pitcher Ryan Adkinson (West Chester) and reliever Jeff Krauss combined to pitch the first six innings and gave up only 1 hit. Krauss struck out 4 and walked 0 to earn his first victory of the season. Jeff is coming off an outstanding season (6-2 with 1 save, 43 K's in 33 innings, 2.06 ERA).

The offense was paced again by Pete Moore (2-3 w/ 2rbi) and Nolan Neiman (double and 2 runs scored).

Walter vs. Reppert

Two of the top pitchers in the Lehigh Valley squared off and they both pitched as expected. Ryan Walter and Matt Reppert had identical pitching lines: Walter 7 IP, 3 hits, 1 earned run, 6 K's, 2 BB and Reppert 7 IP, 3 hits, 1 earned run, 6 K's, and 2 BB. Fortunately for the Bulls, Reppert also was the victim of an unearned run which helped the Limeport to a 2-1 victory.

Nolan Neiman and Pete Moore scored one run each and Kenny Surfass and Pat Hollander each drove in a run to help Limeport improve to 3-0.

Limeport defeats Quakertown 15-1

Limeport traveled to Quakertown's field for the first time and beat Quakertown 15-1. Billy Hezel (Lehigh University) threw a 2-hitter while striking out 8. Matt Geiger (Lehigh) had three hits and scored 3 runs. Kenny Serfass (ESU), Dave Shoemaker, and Sean Donchez each had 2 rbi. Newcomer Pete Moore (Moravian) hit the Bull's first homerun of the season over the left field fence.

Limeport improves to 2-0.

Limeport wins opener

Ronnie Manning, Brett Vroman, and Jeff Krauss pitched Limeport to a 5-4 victory. Manning struck out 7 to earn the victory and Krauss pitched a perfect 7th to notch his first save of the season.

Pat Lane led the offense going 2-2 and scoring 2 runs with an rbi.

Nolan Neiman, Pat Hollander, and Jeremy Bartha each had an rbi.
